MOLE extends livelihood, labor services to vendors during BARMM’s 7th Anniversary

The SET-A-KART program aims to provide sustainable self-employment opportunities by strengthening income generation and enhancing the economic resilience of vulnerable sectors in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM). “Decent work and sustainable livelihoods are pillars of peace and development,” said MOLE Minister Muslimin Sema. Sema reaffirmed MOLE’s commitment to protecting workers’ rights, expanding employment opportunities, enhancing skills development, and promoting safe and fair working conditions across BARMM. “Through our labor and employment programs, we strive to empower individuals and communities—particularly the youth, women, displaced workers, and vulnerable sectors—so they can actively participate in nation-building,” he added. In addition to the turnover of livelihood assistance, MOLE also delivered various labor and employment services, including the registration of workers’ associations and establishments under Rule 1020. The ministry further provided free legal advice through the Single-Entry Approach (SENA), training interventions for returning Bangsamoro workers from abroad, and accepted applications for the assistance program for repatriated abused and distressed Overseas Bangsamoro Workers (OBWs). Mariam Sawi, a street food vendor, thanked the BARMM government for selecting her as one of the program beneficiaries, noting that the assistance would significantly help increase her income. “This assistance is a great help for small vendors like us, as it provides an additional source of income to support our daily needs,” she said. These initiatives underscore the Bangsamoro Government’s holistic approach to labor governance aimed at fostering a peaceful, inclusive, and economically empowered Bangsamoro.
